entry#1 Moral for teenagers in LORD OF THE FLIES

Because all the characters in LORD OF THE FLIES are teenagers, this novel had a bigger impact to readers. People think teenagers have no Teenagers in this novel seems to be smart and nice, but they were not mature enough to follow rules that they have made. Teenagers in the novel are abandoned without any grown ups. They have no one to lead them and take care of themselves. In the beginning, they seem to know how to survive in the island, without anyone helping them. They set up their own rules, and chose a leader(Ralf) to lead them. The rules that they have made shows that these teenagers have civilized thoughts and concepts. But the rules were easy to break, and because they were teenagers In the beginning of the story, it seems like these teenagers will have fun in the island until the rescuers rescue them. However, the monster in the story, shakes young teenagers mind, and conflict started to arise.Jack and Ralf had different thoughts. Jack wanted to be an absolute leader, when Ralf tried to listen to everyone, treating them equally.

When teenagers finds out about monster, their conflicts arose. And finally, Jack takes over Ralf's place with his friends, without knowing that the monster was a dead pig's body.In my opinion, author tried to represent pig as a Satan's trap. This dead monster woke teenager's cruel originality. Even Satan comes out in the story as Lord of the flies. When Simon finds out about the truth of the monster, the Lord of the flies talks to Simon.Simon, one of the most important characters, represents Religion. Simon tries to warn other kids about the lord of the flies, but other kids does not know what Simon is trying to tell. Eventually, Simon gets killed by other survivors on the island. This is the time when kids gets violent. Simon was the first victim, and he was the first one to find out the truth about the monster.

This part gives lots of morals to teenagers, because it tells us how easy we can fall into Satan's trap. When Simon tried to help, no one listened to them, by Satan's interrupt.Teenagers in the story knew what to follow, but like Adam and Eve, they fell into Evil side of human being's original nature. So this story tells us how dangerous it is to fall into Satans trap, and how important listening to God's warnings are.

entry#6 Why do I like Simon so much?

In LORD OF THE FLIES, I loved the character Simon. Except Simon, everyone seemed hypocrites. They only pretended as if they care for everyone. Whenever something happens, Simon had keen opinions about it, and tried to look at it in different view. He had his own solution and tried to solve it.

I hate other characters in the story, because they left Simon to die in the burining forest. Simon was just trying to tell the truth about the monster. Anybody will get mad to know the truth.

However, the kids did not understand why Simon was so excited, so they let him die in the burining woods.

I had a chance to read an interpretation of LORD OF THE FLIES. This book was type of Allegory, author trying to tell what the originallity of human being is. All the characters, settings had their own role in the story. Simon was representing Religion, faith which humans have inside them.

In the book, Simon gets killed, but I hope it does not happen in the real life.

entry # 5 Climax of the LORD OF THE FLIES

When Kids saw the monster. From this time, the conflicts started to arose.

To teenagers, fear can be critical to their faTith and thoughts. And this monster inside them, had drove kids them to chaos.

Simon, the first one to know the truth of monster, he talks with the Lord of the flies. after this he tries to warn the other kids. However, he gets killed by the fire. this is the climax of the story.

By the fire that they have made, Simon died. He did not have any chance to warn the other kids.

The reason why i chose this part as climax is because the first victim had come out at this part.

And this is where Kid started to change. From Simon's death, readers can see that kids have changed. And since Simon represents religion, the last hope is gone from the island, the only truth are gone from island.

This part of the story made sad, because Simon was my favorite character in the story. I liked him because of it's honest personality, and positive thoughts. After Simon's death, it felt like other people deserves to die. And as i thought, the story changed. Peaceful island became, cruel and no rules existed in there.

The scene where the forest gets on fire, was critical for me to choose this part as climax, because it's the first accident caused by kids on the island.

entry#4 Disturbing Setting

In the LORD OF THE FLIES, one setting disturbed me the whole time. And that setting is when forest gets on fire. This scene showed me how dangerous human's developing technology is.

Kids had some basic knowledge to survive in the island. They knew that they should hunt, and the knew that they need rules to control themselves. With Piggy's glasses, Ralf makes fire out of it. Since they new how to make fire, the glasses became so important, and the fire showed improvement in living of the kids. Fire made them feel secure and kept them warm, so Piggy's glasses became sort of authority among kids.

Fire has always been together with human beings. It was the first main technology, and all the technologies we have are from fire. In the story, too, fire makes kids life more comfortable on the island. However, fire was a dangerous thing to have. As teenagers, it was hard to take full control over everything. And soon, the fire burns the forest. Simon was killed by the fire as well.

This accident is an allegory towards the human technology these days. it's causing many accidents, going against the nature. The author tried to represent dangerousness of human technology can be. And the setting of burning forest helped me making sure of this book's theme

entry#3 Characters

In LORD OF THE FLIES, 7 teenagers just about my age are main characters. I did not like most of them, except Simon. Only Simon tried to get rid of fear(monster), and he was the only one to know that the monster was themselves. He was the first one to meet the Lord of the flies, and the only one who did not fear of the situation.Other kids were selfish and coward. The existence of monster drove them to fear, but they did not know what the monster is. They just started to fight against each other, not trying to find solution.

Ralf tried to be fair, but his leadership was not strong enough to impress Jack.Jack was a cruel kid, and he wanted to become leader. He wanted to be number 1 and he would have done anything for being a leader. His greed had killed other kids on the island. Sam and Eric were under Jack's control. They did not try to go against Jack's commands. After Simon died by fire, Sam and Eric regrets, and it was pitiful to see them regretting. Roger, was a quiet kid, but when Jack becomes evil, he turns evil, too. Evil inside him was strong, it was hiding behind his quiet personality. He kills piggy by the rock. Piggy was a smart guy, but he never tried to defend himself. Even though people teased on him he could not say anything. When Ralf made fire out of his glasses, he gets some confiedence to talk with kids.

I hate the characters in this novel. All of them were selfish, or not strong enough to change the situation. No one even tried to think of situation better, except Simon.Simon was the only character I liked, because he was the only character who did not change. And this is why i think he represents religion in LORD OF THE FLIES.

entry #2 Does this novel relate to any current situations?

As time goes by, people are getting cruel and cruel, and evilness of this world are growing and growing. We do have concept of justice, and we do try to follow justice that we believe, but Satan's single temptation easily breaks that justice inside us.

Just like teenagers, there are many people who are lost. They think there is no one to guide themselves, not accepting God to guide themselves. These people fall into the trap easily, just like teenagers in the LORD OF THE FLIES. Satan easily lead these "lost" people into Chaos.
They do not fully believe in GOD, but they believe in Satan's illusion more.

In LORD OF THE FLIES, Simon had idea that monster is themselves. He was the first one to find out that monster was not real. He was the first one to meet the Lord of the flies. He knew the truth about all the fears that they have. However, no one listned to him, and because he sounded mad, they killed Simon. They did not try to understand the truth. And since Simon's death, evil takes full control in Jack, Roger, and Sam and Eric.

Like Sam and Eric in the story, there are some people regretiting about their deeds, but still mistakes that never can erase from their head, like Simon can not come back to life.

People does not try to listen to GOD, because they are scared of Satan more than GOD.
They are scared to know the truth than letting satan take control over them.
